![]() Wilderness First Aid is designed for ALL outdoor recreation enthusiasts and travelers. Training provides excellent overview and practice of the typical outdoor emergencies you may encounter anytime you venture outdoors or into a remote location where medical assistance may not be immediately available. An ideal class for those wanting advanced first aid knowledge without spending a week or more in a classroom.
An intensive 16-hour course conducted over two weekend days, Wilderness First Aid includes tips for planning for urban disasters and foreign travel emergencies as well as common back-country emergencies and evacuations. Wilderness First Aid is also an excellent refresher course for those who have previous military survival training or have already been certified in advanced wilderness medicine in the past. Upon completion, including a written exam, students receive a Wilderness First Aid certification card from ASHI - American Safety and Health Institute. If you need a Wilderness First Aid certification for employment, please verify with your employer that this program meets job requirements. Some guiding positions require a more extensive 40 - hour Wilderness First Responder certification. WFA is a 16 hour, 2 day course ideal for recreational hikers, boaters, kayakers, mountain bikers, climbers, summer camp staff, weekend adventurers, volunteer trail leaders, and foreign travelers. Farley Kautz is the former owner, founder, and operator of Adventure Pursuits, an outdoor travel and guiding company located in the Colorado Rockies operating adventure trips for teens and young adults in Alaska, Canada, Colorado, Utah and the Pacific Northwest. Farley has been guiding outdoor adventures for 30 years and is a Wilderness First Responder. He loves teaching others prevention, planning, and rescue techniques based on ASHI - American Safety and Health Institute standards, as well as his own practical experience on the trail. Scenarios will be conducted outside, weather conditions permitting. Confirmation packet will include details and classroom location. Request more information Cancellations, Refunds, Terms: Cancellations received more than 30 days before class start time will receive a full refund less $35 service fee. A transfer to a future class is permitted if the request is received 30 or more days before the class (only one transfer per registration permitted). A $25 fee applies to all transfers.
